For those who adamantly refuse to accept the notion that point nine repeating is equal to the number one, should Lojban contain a cmavo for "end repeating decimal". This would mean that anything inbetween [zo ra'e] and this new cmavo repeats infinitely, forever pushing anything after the new cmavo (which does not repeat) further back in the decimal.I know that it mathematically does not make sense, but it really would help in conversations/arguments.But, perhaps, if Lojban was incapable of discussign such a notion, the virus would not be able to breed/spread- which would help us all. :)

Well, there are words for "cold", "dark", and "dry". But those have restrictors and/or standards. And, they may be more useful, as evidenced by their ubiquity in human language. But this may be helpful. Does not do any real harm except use up "cmavo space". And, Lojban is meant to be a logical language. Those other examples were more scientific. What does this mean? What is the consensus? I do not know.

I say do not do it. It does not make sense (for a non-mathematical example if you want to say ".9999 ... 1", you cannot get to the "one" no matter how long you have. The sequence supposedly ends (and does not end!), but you cannot get there). Plus, as you said, it hopefully will not allow people to think up such nonsense. Of course, Lojban is meant to be "fully expressive"; and if one is not made now, it probably will be made in the future. Perhaps. You can also use the same argument against ".999 ...", except that everyone knows that "it does not end" when it is put into a string of decimals (just a pi does not end when put into a string of decimals, they both equal a finite number ("1" and the pi sign respectively) but 'may' be expressed in never ending form). That is just my two pence.

The virus must be stamped out wherever it finds a foothold. Adding a cmavo for end repeating decimal would only give it a foothold in lojban.
